Can someone with a nickel allergy have a reaction to the yarn knitted into a wearable object with nickel needles?

...I don't think they would because there could be no possible way for nickel to "rub off" onto the yarn, but you never know.

Writer's Block: Shops Gone By

Woolworths shut its doors in the U.K. last week, sending many into a frenzy of nostalgia and bargain shopping. What now-closed store or chain do you wish was still open?

Apparently, they still are online, but you won't find one single walk-in store open anymore. It's a pity, because I do think they were a notch better than both Best Buy and Circuit City.

Writer's Block: On the Bus

Jam a bunch of people together in a tight space like a bus or the subway and something crazy is bound to happen. What's the most memorable thing you've seen on mass transit?

My grandma, aunt, uncle (those two are siblings) and I were coming back from the American Idol concert this last summer. We rode the Metrolink to get there, and on the way back there wasn't enough room to hang onto the railings, so we were in the middle, hanging onto each other, trying not to fall over. Kind of hard when the train would drop and pickup speed, which had me in a giggling fit. I called it, "Metro-surfing."

We had to switch trains, because the train we were on would take us farther than we wanted to go along the wrong route. Eventually, an empty train came along to take us back along the route we wanted, and all of the people in the Cardinals shirts cheered because it was empty X3.

It was awesome.

Ninja!Robert !!

Lol, I love how TMZ gave Robert a small mention when waiting to find him while talking to someone else. They didn't find him. I've watched a LOT of TMZ, and I haven't seen anything on him since the Wing Chun practice picture in front of his home.

He's a stealthy ninja that TMZ cannot capture on film.

Great for him. Bad for us fans.

It's amazing that when looking at people's profiles that match at least one shared interest often comes up with several other interests that you both also share.

I wonder why LJ hasn't come up with a utility to cross-reference and list users who share the most interests with you who aren't currently your friends. Or are.

I would think that if you were looking for some friends, such a list would be of use.

Also, what if LJ had some way to show the entire community's general mood. Could be done the same way as above is suggested, but even more easily.

Chicago: What happened.

So, I was going to post about this last week, but that didn't happen.

We drove to Chicago, and on the first day went to go see the Sears Tower. I never want to drive through downtown Chicago with anyone who doesn't realize crosswalks and that pedestrians have right-of-way, again. I've been more comfortable with the other drivers in Driver's Ed.

The Sears Tower was amazing. Best day to go see it, because the next day it was a bit overcast. You could see for several miles. It's also another reason I love my camera, pictures are so clear with the help of anti-shake and 10x optical zoom.

We also discovered that the traffic on the highways and toll roads of Chicago is utterly ridiculous. No matter what time you're driving. And the way in and out of the Comfort Inn in Downer's Grove is really stupid. Expect to either drive over the median, or do a U-turn to turn left when driving out of the back lot. Don't worry too much; the median was only about 6 inches high *eyeroll*. Other than that, a rather good Inn. Oh, and that's where the only Fry's Electronics is, other than Indianapolis, that's close to St. Louis.

Second day, we hit up the Museum of Science and Industry. Damn coolest place to go if you're a total science geek. I saw things I've never seen before. Well, obviously I've never been here before, but I mean technology-wise. They have a tour of a Coal mine...which I'm told that it doesn't really descend 600 ft underground as they claim. As you exit the tour, think about it. Oh well, I really have been 600 ft underground in a real coal mine. Our whole day consisted of the Museum, it was so huge. We didn't even bother with the Submarine tour, or the Smart House. I wish the Electricity exhibit was open, but they were working on it. They were also working on their Future Technology exhibit too.

On the last full day in Chicago, it was hot. We went to Shedd Aquarium, and I discovered that my rechargeable batteries I've had for over a year are starting to suck. I did get what pictures I wanted, though. After lunch, which was the most stupidest ordeal in itself (if at all possible, eat just before you go in, and don't bother with their cafeteria on a weekend), we headed over to Adler Planetarium. So awesome, though all of us were getting really tired of walking.

Funny bit: at the Aquarium, I literally saw what could have been David Cook's doppelganger. Later, I knew it could not have been him, as I think the whole top ten were in Canada, or something.

So, Chicago was exhausting, and as the nice trolley driver mentioned: do not go to the museums on a weekend. It was still awesome. I'd love to go shopping, or something, down in one of the major shopping areas sometime.

...On Thursday. This will potentially rock! I probably won't do much actual shopping, outside of the normal tourist stuff.

Mmm, I love dried mango slices. I could probably devour this entire container next to me.

I really should get some sleep soon. I did force myself to get up today, so I am a bit tired, but just not enough to actually hit the hay.

It would be crazy to see RDJ walking along one of the streets in Chicago. It would be awesome.

Idol tour review

So now that I'm more awake, I'll see what all I can go into.

Before the concert started, they showed different ads and commercials on the two "Big" (more like small from where we were) screens. They showed both of the Guitar Hero commercials done by Archuleta and Cook. The fans screamed louder for Cook, lol.

The concert got going, and they went in order of elimination, so Chekezie was first up, followed by Raimelle, and then Michael. I was never really a fan of Kristy Lee or Brooke, so I sorta found myself thinking, "should I be moved by this?" but I did like Michael.

After the intermission, where to kids were possibly embarrassed by the poor announcer, and won Guitar hero games for their troubles (I'm seriously doubting that that 11-year-old even had a 360).

The fans went completely crazy for Jason, which I think was amusing when I think about my family's opinions to his last couple of songs before he was voted off. I won't deny that he was good, but Bob Marley was just not the right choices for him on Idol. Syesha was great, though she was like, "are there fireworks or something?" There was a Cardinal's game last night, that we won!

Archuleta sung four songs, and I think Cook sung like five (maybe). Omg, people were totally freaking just before Cook came on stage. Crazy strobing blue lights abound.

And even though all of the songs were great, I really liked the last bit where all ten of them sang. Oh, and gotta give props to Michael and Cook totally having a small dance-off at the end there, lol.

Hope I gave enough of an insight into what happened at the concert.

I forgot to mention yesterday...

I saw the American Idol tour tonight!

It was great, but I'm seriously too tired to remember all that much right now. The show let out around 10:12, but we didn't get back until ten 'till midnight.

I did remember on the Metrolink ride back, some guy coming from the Cardinal's game asked if we went to the game. We told them we saw Idol, to which his reply was, "(something something)...Sanjiah?" Don't ask me to get the name right, but I totally loled.

On that same metrolink train, I practiced my surfing, it was so packed :D

More later (or not).

Vampires or werewolves?

View 503 Answers

Vampires. Basing upon what I know, you might be able to reason with one for them not to kill you/turn you.

If you do turn into one, you'll be more socially accepted than you would as a werewolf. Meaning, you could appear to be more or less humanoid at all times during the month. At least, you could control yourself somewhat, instead of being under the influence of the full moon.

I could deal with being a vampire myself, for one, I'm a night owl/hawk (however you wish to word it). I would probably drink the blood of wild animals...which leads me to think, how would a vampire deal with rabies? They can't really die as mortals can, after all. Maybe they would become a rabid vampire?

But when it really comes down to it, I like being a regular human.
